Hank Career Update
The tennis predictions come a little late, but it is good to know that Hank has another project lined up:

From "Stars are out at the Open"

Hank Azaria of "Huff" fame is a [tennis] fan and said he is rooting for Andy Roddick even though he thinks Roger Federer is a shoo-in to win. Azaria, who starred in the Broadway play Spamalot, said he is planning to fly out to London soon to work on "Run, Fat Boy Run," a comedy directed by David Schwimmer from "Friends."

Here is the IMDB page for "Run, Fat Boy, Run." The plot summary: "A chunky, clueless guy leaves his fiancée on their wedding day only to discover -- some 10 years later -- that she is his one true love. But in order to win back her heart, he looks to finish his first marathon while making her realize her new man is the wrong guy for her." It was written by Michael Ian Black, but there's no definite info yet on who else might be in the cast or what Hank's role might be...

Heads Up for Detroit Hank Fans
Bennett, Azaria help Albom launch book

Fox appearance aids 2 local charities

Tony Bennett and Hank Azaria are coming to town for one night, to raise money for homeless people.

The singer and actor will join Mitch Albom at the Fox Theatre in downtown Detroit on Sept. 27 for some talk and -- maybe -- some songs. The event is part of the launch of Albom's new novel, "For One More Day," the story of a man who gets the chance to spend another day with his late mother.

The linked article has more information about the event itself, but here's the crucial ticket info:

The evening with Bennett, Azaria, Dumars and Albom will begin at 7:30. Tickets will be $40 for general admission. Ticket buyers can reserve $10 parking, too.

About 2,000 tickets are available. Get them by calling 313-471-3099, visiting Ticketmaster.com or at the Fox Theatre and Joe Louis Arena box offices, says Marcy Hayes of C&B Scene, which is planning the event.

About 100 VIP tickets for $200 each will entitle the holder to an hour-long reception before the show to meet Bennett and Azaria.

Sad news for Hank...
Most of you probably know by now that Showtime has cancelled "Huff:"

I haven't been able to watch the second season as it airs because I can't afford Showtime, but I saw the first season on DVD...Hank gets so much attention for his comedic talents, and that attention is definitely well-deserved, but it was nice to see him do a project like this that allowed him to show off his ability to tackle serious material as well. Alas... :-(

At least we know that he'll stay busy. Hank never seems to have a shortage of things to do! I noticed yesterday that he's listed as a future guest at the "Don't Quit Your Night Job" series of monthly improv comedy benefits that his former Spamalot co-star Steve Rosen is helping to put together. So any members of the community close enough to NYC to think about attending might want to keep an eye on the website:

Not too much in the way of actual Hank Azaria news lately, so I thought I would post this funny Spamalot-related anecdote Steve Rosen (Lancelot's faithful squire Concorde in Spamalot) shared with us at the Steve Rosen Fan Site:

Any funny Spamalot stories?

Steve: As Concorde, my arrow sometimes doesn't work right. A week straight I did my pratfall and the arrow didn't work. When I hit the deck, Hank came over and ripped the arrow out of my costume and it sprung out. He then said, “That Viagara's really working, Concorde!”

Also, don't forget that Hank will be presenting at the Tonys on Sunday! 8 PM Eastern, CBS...The presenters will receive quite nice gift bags, as described by Broadway World:

"Stars will roll away with Kipling’s Coast Tote & Las Vegas Trolley filled with over $35,000 of goodies. Highlights include: Solstice Sunglass Boutique offers stars a choice of the season’s hottest designer sunglasses from Gucci, Dior, Juicy Couture, Marc Jacobs, Girogio Armani and more; Jabra JX10 state-of-the-art Bluetooth® headset; Essenza Automatic Espresso Machine and two month supply of coffee; Invicta Watches newest Anatomic Collection; Tahitian Noni International Luxury Bath & Body Gift Set; Stunning Details Handcrafted Semi-Precious Gemstone Jewelry; a 1-year Passport Membership to Crunch Fitness Nationwide; a private 2-day, 4-wheel drive training adventure with Bill Burke of Bill Burke’s 4-Wheeling America; Spiegel Catalog Norma Kamali Timeless Convertible Tie-Waist Skirt, M.A.C Cosmetics Colour Box & Skin Care Box; New York City Opera One-Year Associate Patron Membership; Saitek Industries A-250 Wireless Speaker System; Am Rieys Industries American Chang Men’s Blazer, Dior Bois d’argent cologne, and more."

Hank Presenting at Tony Awards
From Playbill:

Tony Awards Will Go Hostless

The 2006 Tony Awards will not feature a host. Instead, over 60 stars will present awards at the annual ceremony, which will be held June 11 at Radio City Music Hall.

Among those scheduled to present awards include Oprah Winfrey, Glenn Close, Hank Azaria, Bernadette Peters, Liev Schreiber, Kyra Sedgwick, Mark Ruffalo, Julia Roberts, Eric McCormack, Ralph Fiennes, Cynthia Nixon, Martin Short, Alfre Woodward and Anna Paquin.

In a statement the executive producers of the Tony telecast, Glenn Weiss and Ricky Kirshner, said, "The 60th Anniversary show is bigger than just one host. So we've put together a line-up of 60 stars from the stage to lead our celebration."

Paget Brewster Interview
UnderGroundOnline has an interview with Paget Brewster (Beth on "Huff") which includes some discussion of Hank.

UGO: What's it like to play the TV wife of Hank Azaria? Do you ever hear his voice and immediately think of Police Chief Wiggum from The Simpsons?

PAGET: He does those damn voices all the time. He does them all the time, but this year he became obsessed with the voice of Plankton from SpongeBob. I've never seen SpongeBob, but he's walking around talking about wanting Crabby Patty. We'll honestly be doing scenes where we're having a huge knock-down drag-out fight, and I'm crying and then at ‘Cut,' he'll just start talking about Crabby Patties, or go into Apu. It's great. Hank and I are friends, and we talk all the time. As soon as we finish shooting Huff, he goes to New York to do Spam-a-lot. I just saw him a couple of weeks ago. I went to do Conan and went and played poker at his house until 4 in the morning, and my brother and I lost a ton of money. He's a really great guy.

The entire interview, including a few more mentions of Hank, is here.
